The Mountain House
Today we are giving a sneak peek of a project we are working on- a mountain house in North Carolina.
The space will be a vacation house for the client and they really wanted a farmhouse aesthetic, but it needed to mix with the mountain feel. To keep the space feeling modern and less cabin like we are going with a neutral palette with pops of fun and unexpected accent tile options.
For the kitchen we went with gray perimeter cabinets and black painted island cabinets. For the backsplash we went with a beautiful handformed subway tile. The countertop is still being selcted but will be some sort of quartz.
For the guest bath, the vanity cabinet will be a lovely gray-brown shaker style cabinet. For the shower, the walls will be a gray river rock porcelain tile that ties in with the pebble shower floor and accent mosaic.
For the master bath, we wanted to create a calm oasis that still had a mountain feel without screaming “I’m a log cabin”. The overall color is gray from the cabinet, to the shower floor and the marble looking porcelain subway tile. The space is calm, cool and collected.
The hall bath is where we had a little fun with a bright encaustic tile pattern for the floor. The tile was the source of inspiration for this bath and we pulled the black painted cabinets and blue subway tile from the floor tile.
To keep the space from feeling like a typical farmhouse we opted for traditional polished chrome fixtures from Kohler in a majority of the spaces. The Hall bath will have matte black finishes that tie in with the flooring tile we selected.
Stay tuned for more updates on The Mountain House and see the final space.
